The Bubbles Provide Cushioning & Reduce Impacts
To provide protection, bubble wrap and bubble cushioning use regularly spaced, air-filled hemispheres, also known as bubbles. When a package is being delivered in a truck, the shocks and bumps that happen along the way can damage the items inside. The bubbles provide insulation for these items, and reduce impacts that may occur on these long trips.
These bubbles are available in many sizes, and at Greeno you can get them in 1/2", 3/16”, and 5/16” varieties. The ideal bubble size for you depends on the size and fragility of your item, as well as the box you are using to ship the items. Packing boxes with too much bubble wrap or cushioning with oversized bubbles can lead to higher shipping costs.
What Sizes Are Available?
Bubble wrap and bubble cushioning are sold in industrial bundles, at standard widths of 48”, 60”, and 72”. They are available in the following lengths, based on the size of the bubble:
- 250 feet for 1/2” bubbles
- 500 feet for 3/16” bubbles
- 375 feet for 5/16” bubbles
- 1000 feet for 1/8” bubbles
Dispenser boxes are available too, and are designed based on a customer’s needs, in order to ensure the most efficient use of the product. Our bubble wrap is also available in an antistatic version with static dissipative properties, which is perfect for electronics (available in pink).
Bubble Mailers & Bubble Pouches Are Also Available
We also have bubble mailers, which are mailers that have paper or moisture resistant polyethylene on the exterior, along with a bubble lining on the interior. These are ideal when you need protection for lightweight items you plan to ship. Bubble mailers can have a self-seal lip, or no lip where they can be heat sealed, stapled, or taped.
There are also bubble pouches, which are useful for protecting items that are smaller in size, like a trophy or a hard drive. Bubble pouches are also manufactured with anti-static bubble cushioning, making them effective when shipping electronics.
The Astro-Bubble Green™ bubble cushion is available in a “green” version which is manufactured with 25% post-industrial recycled content. This bubble is environmentally sensible, helping to address the growing need for more sustainable packaging options.
Use Cohesive & Adhesive Agents For Additional Protection
Unique variations of our bubble wrap products use adhesive and cohesive chemicals, which are coated along the cushioning’s film. Bubble rolls can be treated with adhesive on one side, so it sticks directly to your product while leaving no residue. A cohesive agent can be added to another side of the bubble cushioning, making it so the bubble will stick only to itself, and not to your products.
In addition, bubble cushioning material can be manufactured into bubble pouches or Bubble-Out® bags, with or without a lip. The lip is usually 1/2’ to 1” in length, and is used to fold over and close the pouch. This is usually manufactured with self-seal adhesive tape to allow for ease of use.
Customize Your Wrap With Slitting & Perforations
To improve the efficiency of their shipments, many of our customers ask for special slitting and perforations in their bubble wrap. Slitting refers to how bubble cushioning bundles can be cut or slit into rolls. For instance, a 48” bundle can be split into 4 equal rolls or 12” rolls also referred to as slit 4/12”.
Bubble wrap can be custom perforated at virtually any point on the roll, with standard slitting at the 6”, 12”, and 24” marks. Perforations make it fast and easy to tear the bubble cushioning roll, and allow for more efficient usage when packing fragile items.
