Summer is ending and none of us want to think about the impending chill coming our way in New England. For the past few years we have seen historic cold and historic snow fall. We have learned through this to be prepared.
Preparation includes making sure you have enough shovels, your generators are in working order, and a starter supply of ice melt at your facility.
Top 3 reasons you should put your ice melt order in now:
1-According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac winter of 2015-16 will yield above-normal snow and below-normal temperatures for much of New England!
2-The past 3 years have had shortages in ice melt due to increased demand due to bad weather and supply shortages.
3- If you order now, you don’t have to worry about it later when you hear that big storm is coming.
The most impactful of all these reasons is #2. We saw a change in ice melt market last year. In New England, manufacturers and distributors starting selling early. Many buyers bought in early which caused a shortage. Bad weather came in other parts of the country, so some ice melt supply in New England went to other parts of the country. There was a shortage of ice melt in New England last year due to these factors. Our office actually sold 4 skids to a landscaper in Dallas who could not get it locally due to shortages there.
You can give us your order now, and then we can hold it for delivery in October, but to make sure you have enough, we would recommend getting your order in now.
